Abstract

In most cases of suspected cervical spine disorders, the clinical and radiological features are sufficient to provide all the information needed to make management decisions, without the need for further assessment. When clinical assessment is challenging, or there is a discrepancy between the clinical evaluation and the radiological exam, electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) can provide valuable information, as extensions of the clinical evaluation. This additional evaluation can support the clinical diagnosis, identify alternative or coexisting etiologies and provide information regarding the extent, severity and chronicity of the lesion.
