Abstract
Energy transfer from Pb2+ to Eu3+ in germanate glass was detected from the increase of Eu3+ fluorescence on excitation via Pb2+. It was found that the transfer is mostly nonradiative, with a small radiative contribution. Probabilities of transfer were calculated from experimental fluorescence data.
