Abstract

The spin susceptibility of TTF-TCNQ and other organic metals increases with temperature by about a factor of two between 100 and 300K. This increase is attributed to the narrowing of the band due to strong electron-phonon interaction. The strong electron-phonon interaction leads to phonon dressing of the electrons. A theory is developed to calculate the electronic density of states using Holstein polaron theory. The effect is present even when the phonon frequency is somewhat lower than the electronic hopping integral.
