Abstract
The equilibrium state of a two-dimensional superfluid in rotation is discussed. It is shown that, in equilibrium, the presence of polarizable vortex-antivortex pairs does not affect the critical angular velocity at which free vortices enter the system, nor does it affect the free vortex density at higher angular velocities.
