Abstract
The concept of luminescent solar concentrators (LSC) has been discussed in a variety of papers. In the simplest form LSC consist of a glass or plastic plate doped by a fluorescent species. Ambient light enters the plate and is absorbed by the dopant. The resulting fluorescence is guided toward the edges of the plate by total internal reflection and the concentrated light is emitted from the edges. When applied to photovoltaic cells, LSC can reduce the price of photovoltaic electricity.
