Abstract

The various exchange and core-polarisation contributions to the 2s-2p transition moments of the lithium and helium isoelectronic sequences have been analysed within the framework of the Z-expansion method. Very accurate results are obtained from the first-order theory, provided that exchange effects are included. The effects of core polarization are much less significant.
