Abstract

A detailed calculation of the temperature dependent fourth moment for a multilevel, crystal field split system in the presence of exchange by expressing the fourth moment in terms of ″five-particles″ operators, symmetrical to permutation of any two particles that makes it possible to derive a closed form for the fourth moment is presented.
