Abstract

Perylene-doped 9-cyanoanthracene crystals show exciplex emission at 520 nm with a decay time of about 120 nsec. Transfer of energy from excimer to exciplex is efficient at high temperatures despite the small trap depth. At 77 degree K the exciplex lies 1100 cm** minus **1 above the excimer and yet no transfer from exciplex to crystal occurs. The estimated excimer-exciton parameters are: t//H approximately equals 10** minus **1**1 sec** minus **1, D//z equals 8 multiplied by 10** minus **5 cm**2/sec, L//z equals 330 A.
