Abstract

Excitations in time-dependent density-functional theory (DFT) were discussed. It was shown that when the excitations of a system were discrete, an approximate solution, that can be made arbitrarily accurate, can be used to understand. The approximation yielded simple expressions for Gȯrling-Levy perturbation theory results and a method for estimating expectations values of the unknown exchange-correlation level.
