Abstract

The variety of genetic controls of recombination seems to be best explained if there are two general types of control, coarse and fine. These two types differ by the following criteria: magnitude of effect; extent of genome affected; occurrence of natural variation; type of organism exhibiting the effects; evolutionary role.
