Abstract

Xanthorhodopsin is a retinal protein, which includes a carotenoid light harvesting antenna. In our talk we will present a femtosecond pump-VIS to NIR hypersepectral probe study of this process, demonstrating efficient and ultrafast light harvesting from carotenoid to retinal, and discuss the dynamics and intermediates involved.
