Abstract

Fractal structures are noted in natural language. Specifically, it is pointed out that descriptions in language are invariant under scale. In other words, the same terms may be used to describe states of affairs at different levels of resolution. Thus, in themselves, linguistic expressions are not indicative of the level being entertained. The functional advantage of this state of affairs is noted.
