Abstract
The simplest statistical theory wherein the mass spectral fragmentation pattern is governed by the mean energy is derived and compared with the observed results for resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization of benzene. By varying the mean energy absorbed it is possible to span the range of different patterns up to the dominance of C+1ions above 37 eV/molecule.
