Abstract

Catalytic hydrogenation of calix[4]arene [1450 psi H₂ (1 psi = ca. 6.89 kPa), Raney Ni-PrⁱOH, 240°C] affords the trans-syn-trans macrocyclic diether 6b in 15% yield.
