Abstract
The fragmentation pathways of tetrabenzoheptafulvalene and tetrabenzopentaheptafulvalene are discussed and compared with the fragmentation of tetrabenzofulvalene. In the corresponding systems in which the central bond is saturated (“dihydrofulvalenes”), electron impact causes fission of this bond. Some related compounds have also been investigated.
