Abstract

A Lambda phage was constructed in which the structural gene for β galactosidase is fused to a DNA segment carrying the ribosomal promoter rrnB of E. coli. In this hybrid operon β galactosidase synthesis in vitro is repressed by ppGpp. Repression of β galactosidase synthesis by cAMP is reported.
