Genetic recombination between a temperature sensitive mutant and an IBT-resistant mutant of vaccinia virus took place following a mixed infection in HeLa cells. Approximately half of the number of virus clones examined, which grew in the presence of IBT, showed the temperature sensitivity characteristic.
