Abstract

Religious-Jewish fundamentalism as meta narrative contains numerous and varied references to women’s roles, status, motherhood, and fernininity. Since it constitutes a holistic religious world view based on mainstream orthodoxy, while tending toward a radical interpretation, these references are in dispute with Western feminist ideologies (Davidman 1991; Heschel 1983; Kaufinan 1991; Koltun 1976; Weidman-Schneider 1984).
