Abstract

The incommensurate quasi two dimensional mercury chain compound Hg3-δAsF6 has very interesting Fermi surface properties. Here de Haas-van Alphen experiments in fields up to 20 T are presented. The spectra are much more complicated than expected from the models that describe the low field results very well. It is proposed that part of the new results may be explained by an additional magnetic breakdown mechanism and by the two dimensional character of the Fermi surface.
