Abstract

The Human Values Scale (HVS) of the European Social Survey (ESS) is a well-established 21-item measure developed by Shalom Schwartz. It classifies respondents according to ten basic value orientations: achievement, benevolence, conformity, hedonism, power, security, self-direction, stimulation, tradition, and universalism.
