Abstract
The effects of stacking sequence and degree of hybridization on the impact energy of carbon-Kevlar/epoxy hybrid composites have been studied. A positive hybrid effect was noticed for a segregated hybrid in which one layer of carbon fibres was sandwiched between two layers of Kevlar. Hybrids with a greater degree of hybridization showed a negative hybrid effect, irrespective of whether the outer layers were carbon or Kevlar.
