Abstract
Instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) is a method for determining the elemental composition of material in a manner that requires no chemical preparation or treatment of the material to be analyzed. The method is based on gamma-ray spectroscopy following neutron activation. Major contributions to archaeology and prehistory have been made by provenance studies based on INAA.
