Abstract

Thermal expansion and acoustic emission of BaTiO3 crystals with electric conductivity values differing by several orders of magnitude have been studied simultaneously. Both Curie temperature and temperature hysteresis of the ferroelectric-paraelectric phase transition, as well as acoustic emission activity decrease with conductivity. The absence of acoustic emission in highly conducting BaTiO3 crystals is likely to be caused by their monodomainisation.
