Influence of the electric field on heat pulse propagation in SrTiO3.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The first application of the heat pulse method for the investigation of acoustic phonons propagation in incipient ferroelectric SrTiO3 at temperatures 1.7-3.4K is presented. Diffusion propagation of nonequilibrium phonons has been observed. In an external electric field (up to 20 kV/sm) an arrival time of the maximum of the nonequilibrium phonons flux decreases and a signal amplitude increases. In the presenoe of strong electrio field (E>3kV/cm) the relative change of both 2/1 these values is proportional to E2/3. We suggest that the phonon transparency of domain boundaries increases in the external eleotric field.
