Abstract

This paper explains what hypoid wheel pairs are and lists some of their applications. The diagrams show the various factors which affect their efficiency. These influences include the influence of the type of lubrication, the influence of the depth of dipping, and the influence of the lubricant. Standardized tests are described, and details are given of the specially designed test rig. Based on a paper presented at the Symposium on Mitre Gears (Ostfildern, Fed. Rep. Germany: Nov. 1968)
