Abstract

This article evaluates the potential economic and political effects of the possible entry of Turkey into the EC on political and economic stability in the Middle East. It shows that Turkey's entry into the Community would have a substantial, mostly favourable impact on the economies and political systems of Middle Eastern countries. Moreover, Turkish influence in Middle East political and economic affairs would be enhanced by its incorporation into the EC.
