Internal root resorption: Report of case with scanning electron microscopic study

A case report is presented in which internal resorption of the peripheral type progressively developed during a period of six years. SEM pictures of the resorbed surface revealed typical Howship's lacunae delineated by bright margins. The presence of organic material and microorganism-like structures in the crater of the resorbed area inside the tubules indicated that bacterial factors may be involved in the progression of this type of internal resorption.
