Abstract
The pattern at 3.5 keV in Au spectra recently identified as caused by multiple inner vacacies in Au26+ -Au27+ by Kiyokawa et al. is reinterpreted as unresolved 3d-5f and 3d-6f transition arrays in Au47+ -Au52+. Comparison with the same pattern in tungsten spectra from laser-produced plasma supports the identification.
