Abstract

The solubilities and standard free energies of solution of 1,2-dialkylbenzene, 1,4-dialkylbenzene, 2,3-dialkoxynaphthalene, and 2,7-dialkoxynaphthalene, were determined in H2O and in D 2O. From these data the intramolecular hydrophobic interaction has been determined. It was found that the strength of the hydrophobic interaction in H2O is larger than in D2O.
