Abstract

Radiation yields of ions have been measured by pulse radiolysis in methanol solutions containing benzyl chloride, using an ac conductometric method. For the solvated electron a yield of G(e_sol^-) = 1.8 ± 0.2 has been measured with benzyl chloride concentrations of 1 to 10 mM. Water has no effect on the electron yield. For the CH₃O^- a yield of G = 0.35 ± 0.15 has been measured.
