Abstract

A new technique has been developed by which a wide variety of impurity ions may be introduced into liquid helium. The mobility of these ions as well as their drift velocities in electric fields beyond the critical field for vortex ring propagation were determined. The results cast some doubt on the usual models of positive ion structure.
