Abstract

We have previously identified a high affinity site for glucose transport at the inner face of the human red cell membrane, but the validity of our analysis has recently been criticized. We now show that this criticism is in error. In addition, we analyse our original data using three independent methods and show that our original estimates of the "affinity" were reliable. We thus reaffirm the existence of the high affinity site.
