Abstract

Six strains of group EF-4 bacteria were isolated in France from human wounds due to dog bites. Morphological and biochemical characteristics and antibiotic sensitivity tests are described in details. Group EF-4 bacteria which are poorly metabolically active, were shown to have a tetrathionate reductase. The lack of phenotypic relations between EF-4 and Pasteurella and the clinical significance of EF-4 infection in human after dog bites are discussed.
