Abstract
This is a longitudinal study of two classes of medical students who entered Tel Aviv and Hadassah medical schools in 1969. They were followed through their first year of graduate medical education. The study maps the continuing change in the students to separate out the effects of qualities the students bring with them to medical school versus those they acquire at different stages of the socialization process. Outcomes are specialty choice and preferred practice location.
