Abstract

Israelis produce a staggering amount of contrasting musical voices, generating a dense sonic cloud of musical memories that at once compete and complement each other, clash and harmonize, conflict and blend. Interpreting the Israeli soundtrack clarifies the complexity of a society marred with contradictions but also blessed with an unprecedent vitality for musical creativity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
