Abstract

In a recent article published in this journal, ISRAEL FINKELSTEIN responded to earlier articles by OMER SERGI concerning the status of Jerusalem and its vicinity in the 10th cent B.C.E., and cites views expressed by himself and others in the past years1. In the following, I wish to debate FINKELSTEIN’s argumentations concerning the archaeology of Jerusalem, and in par ticular those relating to the Stepped Stone Structure and the Large Stone Structure to its west2.
