Abstract
Delahay's equation for adsorption kinetics on flat electrodes is extended to fractally rough morphologies. The distance of diffusion term in Delahay's equation, (script Dt)1/2, where script D is the diffusion coefficient and t is time, is generalized to (script Dt)(3-script D)/2, where D is the surface fractal dimension. The generalized equation is verified by the use of Monte Carlo computer simulations. The results are applicable not only to electrochemistry but also to any chemical heterogeneous system which is governed by Henry's law of adsorption.
