Abstract
Compaction of binding data for engineered enzymes is demonstrated and leads to successful knowledge-based predictions of the effects of amino-acid substitutions. Results are reported for amino-acid replacements in subtilisin from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. The method described should contribute towards a rational design of novel protein molecules.
