Abstract

(1) Eleven depressive patients and one normal subject received 0.25 mg of salbutamol intravenously as part of a study of the antidepressant properties of this beta-2 adrenergic agonist. (2) No change whatsoever in the serum prolactin levels was observed after the salbutamol injection, indicating lack of involvement of beta-2 adrenergic receptor activation in the control of prolactin secretion.
