Abstract

T. - At the Chalcolithic site of Ben Shemen (Israel), J. Perrot and D. Ladiray have documented a series o burials in ossuaries, placed in artificial caves. In order to better understand the complex funerary procedures, the have been examined from a taphonomic point of view. This study is based upon the identification of categories o in the ossuaries and the analysis of the post-mortem modifications exhibited by these bones.
