Abstract

The major and decisive phase of channel incision in the Havarim drainage basin occurred in post Early Mousterian time from ca 70 000 to ca 45 000 years BP. It amounted to ca 40m, with a short standstill, an average annual incision rate of 1.3mm. The formation and conservation of a thick regolith crust on north facing slopes together with the preservation of thin conglomerates and terrace remnants for a period of 70 000 years are indicative of relatively low erosion rates and stable conditions. -from Authors
