Abstract

Solid solutions of nine pseudobinary metal chalcogenides: (PbSn)Te, (PbSn)Se, (HgCd)Te, (HgCd)Se, (HgZn)Te, (CdZn)Te, (PbGe)Te, Cd(TeSe) and Pb(TeSe) were prepared. Complete reaction was observed at temperatures significantly lower than the respective melting points in 3-7 days, except for the Cd(TeSe) system. Homogenization required higher temperatures, but still below the melting points, and durations of up to 14 days. The alloy compositions were determined by X-ray diffraction.
