Abstract

The first study of two LL6 ordinary chondrites NWA 6286 and NWA 7857 using Mössbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy and magnetization measurements, revealed the main and minor iron-bearing minerals including olivine, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric troilite, chromite and hercynite as well as α-Fe(Ni, Co), α2-Fe(Ni, Co) and γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phases. Some observed differences between two ordinary chondrites were related to different content of metallic phases and non-stoichiometric troilite.
