Abstract

A weak ferromagnetic signal at TN = 17.5 K has been observed in the FC branch of dc magnetic susceptibility of the basic copper chloride Cu3Cl4(OH)2·2H2O. Magnetization measurements at 10K showed a hysteresis loop. The saturation moment was 0.012 μB/Cu. The ferromagnetic behavior was produced by only a small fraction of the Cu moments.
