Abstract

Irreversibility lines in magnetic fields H up to 40 kOe for H//(ab) and H//c, ac-magnetic susceptibility, χ′, and transport critical current density, Jc, in Ag/Bi(Pb)SCCO-2223 tapes were studied in sintered and as-deformed states. Cold uniaxial pressing has been shown to result in more easy vortex penetration into the tape. The increase of pressing load, P, causes gradual decrease in Jc, which was yet non-zero up to the maximal P=12 GPa. The behavior of χ′ vs. T curves and Jc under compression indicated that creation of intergranular weak links with wide spectra of coupling Tc was the dominating deformation-induced effect.
