Abstract

Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) in a granular film of Au82Co18 was investigated. Measurements of magnetization up to 5 Tesla and magnetoresistance up to 1.5 Tesla were carried out at room temperature and at lower temperatures. The results obtained exhibit a quadratic dependence on the magnetization at room temperature and much steeper behavior at low temperatures. Using the model of electron spin scattering, of Zhang and Levy, the measured results are quantitatively analyzed.
