Abstract
Optimizing and controlling the wet end starts with identifying the variables that are important for performance on the paper machine. The new system is a first step to visualizing the trade-offs that result from any action. It avoids the limitations of the available turbidity meters - such as sensitivity to changes in filler and fines content or changes in pigment blend. It provides a framework for choosing the best course of action.
