Abstract

Streptomyces coelicolor was found to be devoid of glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase. In this bacterium, tRNA^Gln is aminoacylated by glutamyl-tRNA synthetase to yield glutamyl-tRNA^Gln, followed by correction to glutaminyl-tRNA^Gln by a tRNA-dependent amidotransferase.
