Abstract
Multifunctional Diffractive Optical Elements in polarization or color are reviewed. Theses elements are general purpose diffractive optical elements that have independent impulse responses for orthogonal polarizations or for different wavelengths. Three different implementation approaches to construct these multifunctional elements are described. Theses approches rely on rigorous medeling and microfabrication processes. Application demonstrations of these multifunctional diffractive optical elements in packaging optoelectronic devices and in constructing compact transparent optical interconnection networks are also described.
