Nearfield investigation of mode structure in photonic crystal waveguides

Abstract

We studied light propagation inside photonic crystal waveguides by Nearfield Scanning Optical Microscope. Amplitude and phase distributions were mapped for straight and bent waveguides, characteristic modes for different wavelengths and their periodic interchange were observed.
